About Us

The Markham Group of Artists was founded in 1981 to facilitate and promote visual arts in the Markham area. Today the membership has grown to over 145 artists and the Markham group of Artists represents a vibrant art community in Markham. The organization offers members an impressive array of workshops and lectures by distinguished artists and stages a variety of juried and non-juried shows in the community.  Meetings and workshops are held at the Markham Village Library (see map), southeast corner of Highway 7 and Highway 48 between September and May.

The Mayor of Markham, Frank Scarpitti, envisions Markham as a cultural centre. The Markham Group of Artists is front and centre in that vision.

If you would like to join our group call our registrar Pat Wheeler at 905-294-4438.

If you are interesting in purchasing work by our members, please visit our galleries or come to one of our upcoming shows.
