ANNOUNCEMENT from Jean Rennie

  1. Financials
  • Members voted to postpone the financial audit until next year
  • About $8600 currently in reserve
  • Finances have been decreasing over the past 3 years as funds have been used to support workshops, which do not pay for themselves
  • Workshops should be self-funding, but due to low participation in the workshops, they are running at a loss of about $1000 since last year
  • A new treasurer is needed immediately so as to receive an accounting of the financials

  1. Bus Trip to Prince Edward County
  • 12 members in attendance expressed interest in bus trip

  1. Call for members
  • Call for members to take on responsibilities and roles—very little interest shown even when it is pointed out that next season’s planning must be done now
  • Jean explained that the 2 year term for the existing executive ended in December and a new executive is needed for MGA to continue
  • Vera Walton volunteered for the Programming role (and would do Registration)
  • Carmella Casuccio is Show Coordinator, Robin Potter is Secretary
  • Open positions
    • President
    • Vice president
    • Treasurer
    • Communication and web
    • Memberships/registration
    • Workshops
  • Number of members has been decreasing over the past 4 years from 100 to the current 45 members, with 20 active members
  • Recent change from Wednesday meetings to Saturday meetings has not substantially affected membership—about the same—and two new members joined after the move to Saturday meetings
  • Surveys have been sent out to members and programming has been adjusted; yet participation remains low
  • The prospect of dissolving MGA is being considered if no members step up to take on positions
