President's Message 2018

President's message

Happy New Year to members both old and new, and wishing you all a 2018 full of creativity and discovery!
As incoming President for the Markham Group of Artists, I’m grateful for the chance to give back to this group which has given me so much during the past 10 years, such as friendship, knowledge, encouragement and the confidence to grow to our fullest selves. The MGA is a wonderful place for like-minded people to connect, exchange ideas and learn something new during our monthly Member’s Day demos, lectures and workshops, and our annual spring juried show at the Unionville McKay Art Centre challenges us to push ourselves further in our artistic development. An annual non-juried show will also be introduced this year to give newer artists an opportunity to experience the joy in displaying their work. In order to grow our creative family,  a few changes may be needed to our meeting schedule to accommodate those that work during the week, but rest assured any change will be for the benefit of the group. We will also continue with what has now become an annual collaborative mosaic project for the community as well as further develop a growing partnership with the Varley Gallery for joint ventures; stay tuned for more details about these exciting developments in the near future!
So dust off your paint brushes, throw on your smocks and get ready for new adventures — I truly look forward to steering us through the next two years with the intent to inform, inspire and delight  each other, as well as the Markham community.
Stay warm,
Linda Ruscio McIntosh
