Markham Group of Artists

A Solo Exhibition in the Markham Mayor's Office

Art has been displayed in the Markham Mayor’s Office for some time. Mayor Frank Scarpitti has expanded the number of works that are being shown in his office and board room on the fourth floor of City Hall. It is a nice plum to add to your resume that “You have had a solo exhibition in the Markham Mayor’s Office”.

To give everyone who would wish to exhibit in the Markham Mayor’s Office an opportunity the following guidelines will be used

  1. Potential Exhibitors must be both a resident of Municipality of Markham and a member of Markham Group of Artists (MGA).
  2. Potential Exhibitors must apply in writing with a resume/artist’s statement and images of 6 – 10 of your paintings, which will provide the Selection Committee with an example of your portfolio. You can e-mail this information to George Huff at If you have questions regarding this you can contact George by e-mail or phone (905-472-31277).
  3. The Selection Committee will be composed of 3/4 members chosen from the previous year’s exhibitors. They will review the submissions from Potential Exhibitors.
  4. There is room for 8 – 12 paintings in a variety of sizes, but you will need some large pieces (30” wide and even up to 3’ x 4’). The finished framed work should have the appearance of being professionally framed and matted, which would be appropriate for hanging in the Mayor’s Office. The Mayor’s Office has the final right of refusal. Works must be wired and ready to hang.
  5. Exhibition period will be approximately 8 weeks.
  6. Selected exhibitors will receive additional logistical information regarding times, labelling, etc. from the Selection Committee
