with Ewa Chwojko

As a total beginner, Carolyne, started painting 40 years ago in a watercolour workshop by the ocean in Rockport Mass.   She has continued to be a very enthusiastic “en plein air” painter!  On location painting, Carolyne tries to capture not only the mood of the day but also her inner feelings towards the beauty of the landscape, sea and town that make it a unique moment in time and place. Most of Carolyne’s paintings are inspired from her travels to Europe, , New England-USA, and across Canada where she continues to paint on location.

As well as painting representationally in her watercolour paintings, Carolyne has enjoyed venturing into the world of abstraction, print making monotypes, acrylic and mixed-media studio work. She has studied with many renown artists, has taken numerous workshops as well as organizing them for many art organizations.

She is a Gold Level of Distinction Signature Member (TWS), Director and Past President of the Toronto Watercolour Society as well as a member of the PIne Ridge Arts Council, Don Valley Art Club, Art Guild of Scarborough, MGA, ECOAA and COAA art groups in Ontario. Her paintings, which have received many awards, have been exhibited and sold at numerous juried shows in Toronto and throughout Ontario and can be found in private and corporate collections in Canada, USA., Europe, Asia and Australia.

Welcome to the adventures of #thepaintinggreek! It all began 4 years ago when lightning struck and I woke up seeing the world completely differently. I knew I had to follow my heart and paint. I started with portraits… and in an effort to advance my skills quickly, I painted a portrait every day. By the spring, commissions had started rolling in.

Once summer arrived and my two boys were out of school, I knew I had to keep the momentum going, so I bought a pochade box and started oil painting at the go kart track. It wasn’t long before word spread amongst the Go Karting community, and so began the "motorsport" commissions.

In the meantime,  I began weekly plein air painting adventures with a small team of talented artists and started selling my landscapes on Instagram.

I paint a lot of things, and I see every painting as an opportunity to learn and grow and improve.  Portraits/ Landscapes/ Still lifes / Motorsport... the subjects change, but my goal is always to find the light, and to use colour and brushstrokes to tell a story within my painting.

You can find more of my work on Instagram: @thepaintinggreek and at the Westland Gallery, London.
