En Plein Air is a french term which means out of doors and it refers to the practise of painting or drawing outdoors. This was made popular by the impressionist painters and adopted by the Group of Seven
The Festival in a Nutshell
- Wednesday through Saturday you will find artists busily painting the town and surrounding areas. For the public there will be the chance to watch the painters in action as well as walking tours, great food and painting demonstrations.
- On Saturday June 13th there will be a Quick Paint Competition from 1:30-4:30. Anyone can register for this event as it is non-juried. There will be just two hours to complete a painting. A $200 prize will be awarded and art sales will take place at 3:30 in the Varley Art Gallery courtyard.
- Sunday June 14th from 12:00 to 5:00 the Unionville Plein Air Festival Show and Sale plus an outdoor Artist Market will take place. Open to the public, this exciting event will give everyone a chance to view the artworks, meet the artists and see the prize winning paintings.

- Varley Art Gallery, Deacon Room, 216 Main Street
- This is a private evening for sponsors and invited guests.
- Includes awards, Judges remarks and early sales
