Artwork Description
Aye, aye, Pennan Growing up in the North East of Scotland this tiny fishing village held and continues to hold a special place in my heart. My Great Uncle William was stationed there as Coastguard in the early 1900’s and my family has continued to visit and revisit over the many years since. My intent in this painting is to evoke the memories of the sight, sound and smell of the North Sea and of the quality of morning light on the red, rock cliffs glowing in contrast to the verdant green of this well watered land. Most of the fisher cottages are holiday homes now but Pennan retains its depth of history and its magic.
