Michele Taras has been described by reporter Kitty Huisman as "a young Picasso, as if he fell into a rainbow." After 25 years as a photographer, which includes eight years as a fashion photographer and publications with Vogue Italia, Vanity Fair, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and others, Michele Taras began painting in 2018. Her style is very much her own and is a beautiful blend of fauve art and expressionism. Michele Taras takes inspiration from the world of imagination. Her whimsical paintings are riddled with playful energy, patterns and colour. Rejecting traditional rules, she believes in the power of heart-driven expression. Her unique selection of colour combinations makes her work stand out and gives it her signature stamp. Taras is passionate about the animals and people of this world and her works often address social topics such as our impact on nature, women’s issues and injustices, with intent to make the world a better place. Take the time to closely examine the details of the paintings, as from time to time you can find hidden meaning within the patterns and deeper symbolism than is at first observed. Taras has sold to private collections coast to coast in Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East and the US. Her work has been included in various juried shows, including the prestigious Paint Ontario. In addition, Taras began an artist group in 2019 to help support other female artists. The NEAG (North-End Art Girls) hosts various art shows throughout the year. With bold, primary colours, playful vibes and hidden meanings, her art adds a lively focal point to any room, perfect for sparking conversations among viewers and collectors.
