Artwork Description
SAKURA is the Japanese word for Cherry Blossom. The figures in my paintings are Geisha. Women who were trained from childhood to become Geisha, specialized in entertaining the most influential men of Japan. If they were financially successful, their fortune was in their Kimono collection, allowing them a respectable retirement, once they became too old to entertain. Collage is Hand Made Japanese Paper, watercolour, mixed media. 12” x 12” on Birch Panel. I can be found on Face Book and Instagram (sandrascasa2012)
