Monoprint on Found Papers & Acrylic Collage
"Spring Arpeggio" interprets the forest as both visual landscape and musical composition, where light, colour, and rhythm merge into an immersive expression of seasonal renewal. Through layered monoprint, found paper, and acrylic collage, fragmented materials are transformed into a vibrant woodland alive with movement, each mark and paper fragment acting like notes in an unfolding symphony of spring. Rooted in my perspective of nature as an interconnected, living chorus, the work invites viewers to experience the landscape not simply as scenery, but as an emotional and sensory encounter. Vertical birch forms create structure and harmony, while luminous greens and scattered textures evoke growth, birdsong, and the fleeting energy of awakening ecosystems. In keeping with VIEWPOINTS 2026, this piece offers a distinct lens through which landscape becomes an interpretation of memory, music, and ecological reverence. "Spring Arpeggio" expands the traditional landscape category by presenting nature as a layered conversation between observation, emotion, and transformation.

The combination of painting and collage has resulted in an intriguing and joyful spring landscape. While dense, there are areas with a lighter touch that capture the sense of light cutting through the stand of birch trees, which are beautifully rendered. The collage elements appear to be carefully chosen, with a combination of text, plant forms and music that either reflects or inspired the title.
