This piece evolved from a desire to create yummy textures created by using unusual painting tools and an eclectic mix of materials (acrylic, marker, cardboard, candy wrappers, napkin, moss, wine cap, fabric) resulting in an enchanted scene inspired by Klimt’s use of gold plus the sketchy, ragtag characters and imagery from Tom Waits songs. www.lindaruscio.com | linda@ruscio.ca

The subdued, yet punchy colour palette works very well in this piece. The theme in this work is immersive. Wit, mirth and double entendre frolic in this work. I spent much time looking at this piece, and that says a lot about a work that can engage its viewer. This is a narrative that sends one on a journey of wanting to know more. Here’s a piece that works in the realm of illustration and an artist who thinks in terms of picture-making.
