Next Member’s Meeting Wednesday May 6, 6:30-8:30 Location: Varley Art Gallery
Presentation by Beverly Allen
A meandering road, complete with detours
Each artist’s journey reflects where they’ve been and what has formed their art along the way. Travel with Beverly as she discusses the influences of her travels and how this has led to the multiple media she employs, including traditional and experimental printmaking methods. Her love of plants permeates her body of work and has brought textiles into play in her pieces. She’ll show you examples of her work and demonstrate gelli printing.
Beverly Allen is a printmaker, mixed media artist and instructor, living in Hamilton and working at her Cotton Factory studio, exploring different ways to incorporate the forms of the natural world into her art. She prints, dyes, sews, steams and simmers plants to capture their fragile, evocative beauty on paper and textiles. She loves learning and sharing the methods and techniques she’s learned. Her goal is to increase awareness of the beauty, delicacy and importance of the natural world surrounding us in all settings.
