Welcome to the Markham Group of Artists.
We are a vibrant and evolving group of visual artists that has thrived in Markham, Ontario since 1981. Incorporated as a non-profit in 2012, our group supports artists and the community through workshops and demonstrations led by invited professional artists and speakers, in-gallery and online shows, professional and member-led critiques, art history talks, and other events in and around the City of Markham, Ontario.
We are known for our annual collaborative painting mosaic created by members and donated to various public buildings and affordable housing residences. And our spring, summer, and fall en plein air painting sessions have recently expanded to include online and gallery-cafe exhibitions. Our juried shows are vetted by professional artists and are also displayed online and in galleries. Members also look forward to our annual Small is Beautiful holiday show and sale held at the McKay Art Centre in Unionville.
We are a welcoming, inclusive organization and encourage membership and art show submissions from equity-seeking individuals and groups, including those from 2SLGBTQ+, Indigenous, Black, and racialized communities.
